For the past eighteen months I've been working with 2QT Publishing Ltd in Burton in Kendal. It's an editor's paradise - a great team of people working with dedicated and enthusiastic writers. It's good to get away from the more 'corporate' aspects of publishing into an environment where there is real respect for authors' aspirations and talent. Recent publications include crime novel Rick Lee's Daughter of the Rose - which sold out its first print run on the day it went on sale. Recent and forthcoming releases for children include David Carter's The Nutters of Pendle, which brings a 'new' set of witches to the infamous Pendle Hill. Offbeat, lively and full of magic and mayhem, it's a great read for the 7+ age group. For younger kids, the Steeplejack Fred series of beautifully illustrated stories will be launched on June 23rd at the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre near Bolton. A must for fans of traditional children's books... For adults, take a look at The Cumbria Way by Peter Jackson - one of the best-written guidebooks I've come across and full of humour which takes the sting out of sore feet after a day on the hills. Latest news - if you get chance to meet author Sarah Hampton at Keswick Literary Festival, please do. She is a delight - and her book showcases one of the most original and compelling 'voices' I've come across for years. Find out more by visiting the 2QT website www.2qt.co.uk |
